Water has numerous benefits for both the body and the brain. It cleanses the body of harmful chemicals and without the correct water consumption, the body and bodily functions will deteriorate within a matter of days. Water hydrates the body inside and out. This is not the case with food, as most individuals can live for a week or two without food. This is evidence of the importance of water.

It is recommended to drink approximately a litre of water for every 25kg of body weight. The age-old myth of 8 cups of water has no scientific research to back it and is extremely vague.

Here are 3 simple steps to drinking more water…

Always Have Water Available

Ensure that you always have water available wherever you are. If you prefer cold water, keep it chilled in the fridge. In the event that you need water on the move make sure you have bottles to grab on your way out. Try to always have water at hand to encourage you to drink more water at the gym, work or during any other daily activities.

Keep it Cold

Most individuals prefer cold water over room temperature water. If your preference is cold water ensure that you make ice to cool water or freeze water in bottles to drink when desired. This will result in more water being consumed.

Select Water When Out

Whenever you are out to dinner try and drink water. Add a little taste to the water by adding lemon or lime or any fresh fruit to create a refreshing drink you will enjoy. Over time the cravings for your usual drinks will subside and you will begin to appreciate the value and taste of water.

Drink water as often as possible and feel, see and love the results.
